It pains me to say that their are people in this world that dont respect wood. People who have no thoughts as to how the tabletop feels. People who DONT use coasters. Imagine if you were to have people over for a nice dinner party. The wife makes up some drinks and serves them to the guests. But good'ol Bill decides to put his fresh out of the fridge , dripping with water, beverage onto the nice oak dinning table. Next thing yeah know theirs a nice fat ring stain on your one of a kind priceless table.
The chance of getting that ring stain out of your beautiful oak table are about the same as the Toronto Raptors making it to the NBA finals. No offence but , common. Since I've been hearing about so many people being affected by this epidemic , I've decided to step up and do something about it. Do what no man has ever done before , do what should of been done years ago, or even yesterday, maybe then that oak table would still be priceless.
I will make the "Coaster Cup", the biggest newest trend around. Perfect for those summer house parties and family get togethers. Now theirs no worrying about the dreaded ring stain, instead your cup is pre-coastered and ready to protect the lives of innocent tables around the world. For a small price of just $19.99 this hot commadity can be yours. Order now and you'll recieve three extra Coaster Cups free of charge. And remember , when faced with putting a drink on a table , ask yourself one question. "Do I respect wood"?

Macleans Girls
Is it true that todays tween and teenage girls look confident on the outside but have a dangerously fragile "sense of self" ? Well according to Dr. Leonard Sax, of the National Association for Single Sex Public Education, this is true. Dr. Sax interviewed teenage girls from around North America and collected data on habits that have been found to occur amoung these young women. Dr. Sax speaks about the rising number of girls who are cutting and burning themselves, how anxiety is at an all time high for girls of this age, and how social status severily affects their lives.
According to Dr. Sax "one in five girls [are] cutting themselves and/or burning themselves". I had heard of girls cutting themselves but never at such a high rate as one in five. In 2008 a report from the Yale school of medicine found that "24 per cent of girls between the ages of 10 and 14 were cutting or burning themselves". When shown these statistics and hard facts its hard not to believe that it is happening. I agree with Dr. Sax that girls around this age are cutting and burning themselves but I'm not to certain if the numbers would be as high as recorded. Dr. Sax stated that succesful girls are amoung the many that cause harm to themselves. He reports that this is because "they havent been living, they've been performing".
"the average teenage girl today is more anxious than the average girl admitted to a psychiatric unit for in-patient treatment...". When I read this it was very hard to believe but after reading more information that Dr. Sax had found , it could be possible. Girls today have many more worries such as how they look in photos and what their peers think about them, so much to the point that it keeps them up at night and makes them sick. Small issues such as brand name clothes and popular boyfriends have now caused major problems with girls and keep them in a fragile state. I would have to agree with Dr. Sax that anxiety is at a all time high with teen and tween girls of this decade.
Dr. Sax's last main point is that social status amoung girls has become a major issue. He found that girls are using their sexuality to obtain popularity , that it "raises [their] status in the eyes of other girls". I agree that girls are quite obsessed about their heirachy in the school and strive to always look "perfect" and act certain ways. Some girls want to be popular so bad they drink to get it. Dr. Sax found that "55 per cent of univsersity students being treated for alcohol abuse are female" and that many teenage girls have started binge drinking as a way to gain status amoung their peers. I completely agree with Dr. Sax that social status has become a major issue amoung teenage girls.
Dr. Leonard Sax's study on the lives of teenage girls has brought up many important issues. Self harm, anxiety, and social status are just a few topics that he brought up and talked about. Whether the facts are 100 per cent true or not they still shine light on the fact that girls in this day and age face many more problems than their previous ladies.

Is she Crazy ?
Ann Coulter has been raising quite the stir in the Canadian media these days. She is an American Conservative social who likes to “stir the pot” with racial and prejudice comments. She recently visited the University of Ottawa and attracted a crowd of thousands. Her speech consisted of attacking gay rights activists, the mainstream media and the Barack Obama administration. The fiery republican brought the heat by suggesting Muslim countries be invaded, their leaders killed and all Muslims converted to Christianity. She also insisted that Muslims ride “magic carpets “instead of planes.
All of her attention has brought questioning to the Freedom of Speech law. In Canada this law is defined as the freedom to speak without censorship and or limitation. It is also recognized as the right to hold opinions without interference. So technically everything she has said, she has the right to say. Although with the Freedom of Speech law comes an underlying concept of respect. Ann Coulter seems to have forgotten or never learned this concept of respect and therefore has been filling up the headlines in most papers.
In the eyes of Canada Ann Coulter is either loved or hated. Her racist, prejudice, and right wing ideas push the limits of the speech laws and trace new borders for where ones ideas can be said aloud.

It was a freaky Friday like no other, critters were crawling and there was an eerie feeling in the air as I walked towards the haunted house. I didn’t want to go in but my friends kept telling me to face my fears. In a nutshell I was more scared than a kid awaiting his knuckle sandwich from the school bully. As we walked further in the house I could hear my better judgment telling me “look before you leap, you’re too young for this”. I was scared to death just waiting for the first sign of horror and it was delivered to me in the form of a deformed zombie screaming “you can run, but you can’t hide”. I didn’t think I could go any further but I decided to take the plunge seeing how we were only at the tip of the iceberg. After a few more screaming zombies the small narrow hall became a wide open room, it was the spitting image of my worst nightmare. At this point in time I was ready to throw in the towel. Without any warning all the lights went off and ghosts were flying throughout the great room. I was literally scared stiff, not a fiber in my body was able to move. I heard the patter of little feet and said “enough is enough”. I ran like the wind and was out of that house faster than a speeding locomotive. As I looked back at deaths doorstep I wondered what made me enter that house of horror.

Free Sub Tuesday
You want to give me an A. Yes , your going to give me an A. With the power of Persuasion that can now be a reality. Having the power to convince anyone and shape there ideas would benefit me in ways beyond belief. If i was down on cash and needed some subway I would simply order my sub and say " why thank you , I sure do love free sub tuesday " even though its friday and we all know theres no such thing as free sub tuesday. When my teachers ask " Brian where is your homework" I could simply reply " I handed it in yesterday dont you remember ? ". Oh how swell life would be. At first glance one would think why in all thats sane wouldnt he choose a superpower like flying or super strength. Well unlike those who chose those styles of power , I will most likely not be outcast and shunned from society, I will not be labeled as " the freak " and in all honesty I dont believe anyone will ever catch on to my superior persuasion. The only downfall to my greatness would be my lack of effort. With everything coming to me so easily I would become lazy. So lazy that I would eventually become tired of my power and go back to my old ways. Persuasion is a tricky piece but if used right it can obtain you as many free subs as you want.
